Initial Pixel 6 Pro Benchmarks Are Kind Of Disappointing

Many are excited for Google's upcoming Pixel 6 phones. This is because for the first time, Google will be introducing their ain custom chipsets that will be powering these phones and presumably future Pixel phones too, but unfortunately, that excitement has since been dampened by benchmarks.

According to benchmarks spotted on Geekbench, information technology seems that the Pixel six Pro might non be the powerhouse we were hoping for. Co-ordinate to the listing, the device is powered by an octa-core chipset with two cores clocked at 2.80GHz, two at ii.25GHz, and iv at ane.80GHz, and it has returned a single-core score of 414 and a multi-core score of ii,074.

To give you some context, Google'southward Pixel 4a 5G last year, which was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, had a score of 595 and 1,602 respectively for single and multi-core operation. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which uses the Snapdragon 888, scored 1,134 and iii,322.

So what does this hateful for the Pixel 6 Pro? This would advise that the Tensor chip that volition be making its debut could exist more than of a mid-range chipset rather than a high-performance one. Alternatively, in that location is also a chance that this benchmark could exist based on a pre-production unit and that the actual performance will exist much better.

Either fashion, we'll have to wait and see, simply for at present Google hasn't confirmed when the phone volition be launching (rumors are pointing towards late October).
